Both chardonnay and pinot noir tell their stories across a broad arc of expression; from pale, fair and ethereal to saturated and stacked. In some vintages, these voices come together in one symphonic chorus but oftentimes, the highest possible answer allows us – or rather, demands – that we turn our attention to a single expression and allow it to rise into a bottle of its own.
Only produced in certain vintages, Aequorin chardonnay and Obelin pinot noir step down from the risers and into the spotlight to deliver the rarest solo performances.

The 2019 Aequorin tells the story of the season in the clearest voice. Long after the pinot noir was in barrel, the fruit that formed this wine, from the highest and the coldest parcels, was still on the vine. These are always the last vines to be harvested, maintaining, even in warm vintages, preternaturally low sugar accumulation and near-electric acidity. In the very cool 2019 vintage, these qualities were taken to an almost surreal extreme.

A vivid, brilliantly defined wine with razor-sharp acidity and laser-like focus that redefines intensity. It is the vinous proof of chardonnay’s potential in this place.
