Where will we forage?
We’ll answer this one like winemakers answer all questions – it depends! All forages will be within a ninety-minute drive from the winery door, but we’ll decide exactly where we’re headed in the days before your excursion based on where we’ve seen the nicest mushrooms popping up.
What might we find?
Spring (April & May) Morels and the beginning of the King Bolete (porcini) season
Fall (August – November) King Bolete (porcini), Chanterelle, Chicken of the Woods, Lion’s Mane, Lobster and Matsutake
Winter (December & January) Back Trumpet, Hedgehog and Truffles
Do I need a license?
Antica Terra holds a commercial license, but should you choose to go back on your own, no permit is required for personal collection.
What if I need to cancel my reservation?
You may cancel your reservation for a full refund at any time up until seven (7) days prior to your excursion date.
What should I wear?
The weather in Oregon is reliably unreliable. In any weather, layers and comfortable, sturdy shoes are your best bet.
What if it’s raining?
Welcome to Oregon! No seriously…it might be. It rains a lot here; that’s one of things that makes the wines what they are. Check the weather as your excursion approaches and if there’s a cloud icon on the day of your visit, please wear a waterproof jacket and your host will bring a not-very-glamorous but very helpful tent under which to host the tasting. A mug of Tim’s Hen Broth™ can warm the coldest of hands (ask Maggie) and a change of dry clothes in the car is never a bad idea.
How far do we have to walk?
We’ll spend two to three hours walking through the forest. While the trails will sometimes be maintained, they are unpaved, and the terrain may be uneven.
Should I bring snacks? Water?
We’ve got you! Your Antica Terra host will bring water bottles for our walk, and we’ll have a proper picnic after gathering our plants.
Is there a restroom?
There will not always be a restroom where we are foraging but your Antica Terra host will bring sanitary supplies with them, and we’ll always make sure we stop at a restroom before and after our forage.
